I’ve added a new facet to my metta meditations.
People around me make decisions I disagree with. I’m learning not to judge their decisions. Still, I often wish they’d choose better, or in some cases I wish that they’d know what to do in difficult situations.
I still wish them to be happy, and safe and protected from harm, and healthy, and to live with ease. Now I add an innovation of my own. At the end, I ask that they be wise.
Who knows if my metta meditation has any effect on them? I do know that it helps me be more tolerant of their choices, which certainly has an effect on me.
